Don Mischer Productions brought us the American Comedy Awards with a mission to make the city of New York a star of the show and portray it in an unexpected way. Scrambling through a frigid NYC winter night, we captured the city we love from subways to revolving doors to bridges. The philosophy in assembling all of this was to fracture, flip and mirror our footage resulting in an akimbo, disoriented yet beautiful look. The typography followed this design aesthetic, flipping text ass over elbow which resulted in a sophisticated dynamic design. The awards team also turned to us to redesign and update their award trophy, resulting in clever play on Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculpture.
